Among the many doubts that hover over the ‘new AC Milan’ in 2025-26 and beyond, one certainty exists: Geoffrey Moncada will remain.
As Calciomercato.com report, Moncada has a contract that expires in 2026 so there is now issue on that front. Meanwhile, CEO Giorgio Furlani reiterated his trust in the current technical director in a meeting with Gerry Cardinale in New York recently.
The imminent ‘revolution’ will therefore affect the former Monaco man only in terms of his operational role. We are awaiting news regarding the next sporting director, after the deal that was supposed to bring Fabio Paratici to the Rossoneri collapsed.
Moncada in the last two seasons has put himself at the service of Milan with a role that was halfway between that of sporting director and technical director. He has taken responsibility for many winning decisions such as those of Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders and others decidedly less so.
At this point in his young career, Moncada seems to operate better as an scout than the responsibilities of a more managerial role. This is why we are moving towards a return to the old with the direction of the scouting area, a role already covered from 2010 to 2023.

It is a position that he had continued to pay great attention to, with his 8/9 scouts, dividing himself between looking for talent and the obvious priorities related to being a director linked to the first team, such as transfer and renewal negotiations.
In this final part of the season Moncada is still very much operational while waiting to understand the next developments. The club’s philosophy of working in a team has long been absorbed without difficulty (his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also good).
With the possible arrival of Igli Tare, coexistence would be easy: the two have known and respected each other for a long time, they have a similar idea of how to play football as well as several mutual contacts.
Tony D’Amico is the candidate in pole position, at the moment, and he would have no difficulty working with the next head of the scouting area. This is why Moncada staying at Milan is a given.
