Noah Okafor was on the verge of sealing a move to RB Leipzig a few days ago, and now he is at risk of falling by the wayside at AC Milan.
Okafor’s is certainly one of the most surreal stories in this January window. The Swiss forward even gave a parting message to Milan fans as he arrived at Linate Airport ahead of his flight to Germany to join Leipzig, saying he hoped to see them again soon, and less than 24 hours later he did.
Indeed, Okafor returned from Saxony with ‘his morale at rock bottom’ as per Calciomercato.com because the German club, after evaluating his physical condition, preferred not to complete the operation.
This was met by the annoyance of Milan, who thought they had solved a case also giving the player the chance to play more consistently and potentially also get some cash in the summer. Now his future is back in the air prospects are not encouraging.
Milan have instructed Okafor’s agents to find a destination abroad with a focus especially on Germany. Giorgio Furlani has also spoken to Adriano Galliani about a move to Monza but Okafor is not convinced about the destination.
The issue is that the Rossoneri will welcome Kyle Walker as a new signing in the coming days and Okafor is the suspect to make room for him on the squad list to be registered, whether he leaves or not. This is why the next few days become crucial for the former Salzburg man.
La Gazzetta dello Sport meanwhile add that Okafor is recovering from a calf injury that he suffered in the Hellas Verona match. Nonetheless, if a new destination is not found by February 3 (closing of the winter transfer window), this could see him left out of both the Serie A and Champions League lists.
