CM: Milan’s need for another playmaker exposed in last two games – three targets for January | OneFootball

AC Milan’s struggles in their last two games have brought some of the key depth issues to the forefront ahead of the January window, a report has claimed.

Milan are currently incomplete because of injuries and Covid cases, but Calciomercato.com writes how the comeback against Hellas Verona that was needed after a dreadful first half and then the anti-climactic loss against Porto could serve as two watershed matches because they sent a clear signal in terms of what is needed.

What caught the eye both in the first half against Verona and for almost the entire match against Porto is that Milan struggled a lot in the transition from defence to attack, and Brahim Diaz’s absence plus that of Junior Messias – the only other natural attacking midfielder aside from the inexperienced Daniel Maldini – was very clearly felt.

That is why there are several playmakers being targeted ahead of the window reopening, such as Noa Lang from Club Brugge who is valued at €30m, plus Yari Verschaeren of Anderlecht who is considered an interesting option for the future.

Romain Faivre of Brest remains the main target and there is already an agreement in principle over permanent terms, but the Ligue 1 club must still be convinced after rejecting Milan’s €10m bid in August.
