Brahim Diaz chose to join AC Milan over three LaLiga clubs because of two key reasons, a report claims, and now attention has turned to a possible permanent deal.

According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini contacted Real Madrid over the summer window and tried for Brahim Diaz under the radar, and eventually agreed to a dry loan after Los Blancos had rejected the idea of inserting an option or obligation to buy.

The player also had offers from Getafe, Valencia and Real Sociedad but chose to join Milan because of the project they pitched him and the promise of a leading role.

Brahim already feels valued by the Rossoneri, but it is too early to understand what will happen in the future, the report adds. Maldini in the coming weeks will return to discussions with Real Madrid to try and secure an option to make his loan stay a permanent deal.

The signals coming from Madrid are not encouraging, as they have simply loaned the Spain U21 international out to gain experience, to then return to base and forge a leading role.

However, nothing should be excluded because Real Madrid already have the likes of Vinicius, Hazard, Rodrygo, Asensio, Isco and Odegaard in their squad, and given the current COVID crisis the right offer could change plans.
