AC Milan are ‘in the front row’ of clubs interested in signing Renato Sanches from Lille as his recent words have reignited speculation, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com reports that the excellent relationship between Milan and Lille could certainly favour negotiations for Renato Sanches given the Rafael Leao, Tiago Djalò and Mike Maignan deals plus the recent discussions for Sven Botman. The Rossoneri have long identified Sanches as an ideal repacement for Franck Kessie.

The negotiation between Milan and Kessie’s entourage is going through a stalemate and the contractual deadline is drawing closer, with attempts to complete a January move to Tottenham not successful, given that Kessie wants to finish the season with Milan.

Maldini and Massara do not want to be caught off guard and that is why Renato Sanches has emerged as a target, with the player himself approving of the idea of a move to Italy and his agent – Jorge Mendes – being the same man who represents Rafael Leao.

During the negotiation for the extension of Leao’s contract the idea of Renato joining Milan was also discussed. In June the Portugal international will be only one year from his deadline with Lille but he has a €30m asking price, with the interest also shown by Arsenal driving that to the current level.

Renato Sanches spoke to the press yesterday too and couldn’t resist stirring the pot, stating that he is ready for the offers that come in and he knows of one club above all that want him.
