The future of Alessio Romagnoli is increasingly uncertain as he has not yet renewed his contract which expires at the end of the season.

According to Calciomercato.com, no option should be excluded regarding his future. The idea of a renewal remains possible but as each day passes without a signature the initial optimism fades and the possibility of an exit grows in likelihood.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara offered him a new contract with a pay cut from the current €6m net per season he earns, with the idea being an extension until 2025 or 2026, with a new salary of €3.5m per season.

Romagnoli did not reject it out of hand but he is taking his time, while his agent Mino Raiola wants to understand if there are alternative options who can offer more and can guarantee him a starting spot.

This is where Juventus come into it, with Raiola having spoken to them about Romagnoli during discussions over De Ligt, with Chiellini and Bonucci unable to give physical guarantees for the whole season and Rugani on the way out. Romagnoli on a free transfer could be an opportunity to reinforce the back line.

Milan are considering a future without Romagnoli too, given they are after Sven Botman of Lille and Bremer of Torino, showing they are prepared to make two quality signings if needed.
