With Sergio Conceicao heading towards an exit, it seems that ideas are already flowing about a potential replacement at AC Milan, and as things stand, the club are looking for an Italian solution.
Since the first rumblings of Stefano Pioli’s sacking, there have been so many different names linked with the Milan job. From abroad or domestically, the club have looked at every different profile and system under the sun, which perhaps is quite a suggestion about things, and no rock has been left unturned.
Now, after two failed Portuguese appointments, it seems the club are going to look to wipe out half of the potential targets, and return to an Italian head coach on the touchline.
Calciomercato.com reports that the time for ‘betting’ is over, and the club must act on what they know. A ‘revolution’ is being planned yet again, with the report stating that only a domestic coach could oversee the changes required in the team.
At present, Massimiliano Allegri is the favourite to take over the reigns next season, ‘without a doubt’. A motivator, someone who knows the club and a ‘normaliser’, he is seen as the ideal to settle things, however, Roberto De Zerbi remains as an option too.
Considering Igli Tare’s record of appointing and working with Italian coaches, it certainly strengthens both ideas.
