Simon Kjaer seems destined to stay with AC Milan beyond the summer at present having established himself as an important member of the team, a report claims.

The Danish defender joined the Rossoneri last month on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, having cut short his loan spell with Atalanta in order to move to the San Siro from Sevilla.

Calciomercato.com recently reported that Kjaer’s purchase was one that was initially only meant cover the departure of Mattia Caldara until the summer, who moved back to Atalanta on loan for 18 months with an option to buy.

However, the same outlet are now reporting that Kjaer – having established himself as Pioli’s preferred partner to captain Alessio Romagnoli – could remain beyond June.

They claim that the former Roma and Wolfsburg defender can sign permanently for Milan for a figure around €5million and given that he is convincing everyone – teammates, coach, management and fans – it seems almost a formality at this point that the management take up that option.
