Federico Chiesa’s time at Liverpool has not gone according to plan as he continues to battle physical issues, but he is closing in on a timely return.
As Calciomercato.com report, Chiesa has made just three appearances for a total of 78 minutes so far. He joined Liverpool a few hours after the end of the last summer market and, also following various muscular problems, he never managed to impose himself.
However, Arne Slot confirmed his imminent return during a press conference: “Chiesa has had a difficult start to the season and without him we don’t have a real replacement for Salah. The good thing is that both he and Harvey Elliott are coming back and they are coming back at the most important moment.”
This is a very important moment indeed, because from now until the end of the winter transfer window the Reds will be involved in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup (League Cup), Premier League and above all the Champions League.
In the next six games they will face Newcastle United, Everton in the last derby at Goodison Park, Girona in the Champions League and Spurs. The, in January, games against Manchester United, Lille and PSV Eindhoven are to come, so squad depth will be important.

In this month and a half, Chiesa will play to prove that he is worthy of a club fighting to win every competition they are in. In the event of a lack of a turning point in terms of minutes and attacking productivity, he could be allowed to leave.
A move is only possible towards top clubs that can shoulder that salary, and he may favour a return to Italy. Inter, for example, have been vigilant about his situation for some time, but they need to sell one between Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic.
Those who might have more urgency are Roma who do not have a player with his characteristics in their squad. Finally, there is also Milan who ‘would add a more reliable attacking option than Samu Chukwueze’.
