AC Milan made the brave move to spend heavily on a striker in the January mercato, and a report has stated that Santiago Gimenez can succeed with the Rossoneri.
The striker situation at Milan was frustrating for quite some time. Since the news of Olivier Giroud’s imminent departure, more than 12 months ago, there have been questions about who would be next in line.
In the summer, the question wasn’t convincingly answered – so when Alvaro Morata departed in January after just six months, there were no real shocks.
So, investment was needed, and the Diavolo chose Gimenez – the Mexican striker who some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been after, yet, it was Milan that managed to work a deal for him, and with this, he has become the club’s latest ‘mission’, as Calciomercato.com states.
So far, he has proved himself to be just that, himself. A striker with the same personality that initially intrigued the Rossoneri. Already he has scored and created, and above all displayed traits that are needed in this team, but also for the future.
More Stories about Santiago Gimenez
He has already begun to understand what is needed to be a Milan player, and more importantly, a Milan striker, and he does this with the work rate demanded by the fans and Sergio Conceicao. As a result, he has already gained important backing from these two groups, as well as the management – via Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has already ‘blessed’ him.
With two goals in his first two Serie A games, he is alongside illustrious company in Andriy Shevchenko and another who hopes to reach those levels in Christian Pulisic. For Santi though, the focus will just be on the next game. After all, if you plan too far ahead, you will lose track of your current path, and that leads to tomorrow, a game where he is already invested.
