AC Milan are giving serious thought to selling Matteo Pessina, and they reportedly have a cunning plan in mind to avoid handing half of the fee over to AC Milan.

Calciomercato.com report how the presence of Koopmeiners, Pasalic and Malinovskyi in the squad means that offers of €15m or more for Pessina would be evaluated. Adriano Galliani wants to bring the Italy international to Monza and just a week ago he had a dinner with Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi to discuss a possible deal.

At the moment €15m seems too much to Monza, but there is another factor at play. A clause in Pessina’s contract signed when he joined Atalanta dictates that they must pay 50% of the proceeds from a future resale to the Rossoneri.

However, that will expire after 100 appearances for the midfielder with La Dea and given that he is on 96 games at the moment, he could be sold on deadline day which means they would only owe Milan €3m, which is less than half of the €7.5m that would be due to their Lombardy rivals now.
