Cristian Chivu’s reign as head coach of Inter begins at the FIFA Club World Cup as the Nerazzurri prepare to take on CF Monterrey of Mexico in their first match of the newly revamped tournament in the United States.
Inter will look to bounce back after a 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in their last outing. That match was the final game in Simone Inzaghi’s tenure, who has since taken over as head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Chivu, who was appointed as the successor to Inzaghi just over a week ago, could hand debuts to Inter’s two new signings: Petar Sucic, who arrived on a permanent deal from Dinamo Zagreb, and Luis Henrique, who has joined on a permanent deal from Olympique de Marseille.

Otherwise, it is set to be a fairly familiar Nerazzurri line-up, expected to be led by Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in attack.
