It's now official: Africa will not have any club representation in the Round of 16 of the Club World Cup.
After Wydad (Morocco), Al Ahly (Egypt), and Espérance (Tunisia), it is now Mamelodi Sundowns' (South Africa) turn to bid farewell to the American tournament.
After an initial victory over South Korea's Ulsan, the "Brazilians" fell to Borussia Dortmund by a score of 4-3 before settling for a goalless draw against Fluminense (0-0).
How much will Mamelodi Sundowns earn from the Club World Cup?
The African runners-up will return home with a sum of 12.5 million euros—9.5 million as a participation bonus for the tournament, plus an additional 3 million dollars for winning one match and drawing another.
The dazzling Brazilian winger was unquestionably the standout performer for Mamelodi Sundowns in this Club World Cup. Providing an assist against Ulsan, he also scored a sensational goal against Borussia Dortmund.
