One club is considering a 'huge' offer for Alexander Isak as a crazy Liverpool twist could be about to unfold.
At this moment in time, it looks like Newcastle do not want to sell the Swedish star. However, Liverpool have not walked away from trying to get their coveted target.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool are still there for Isak, should Newcastle change their mind on the matter on his most recent YouTube video.
It's a saga that could go on for a while, but in the meantime Liverpool have begun their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike. He's someone who has been on the club's radar for a while and the Reds could be open to bringing in both Ekitike and Isak, with Richard Hughes in particular valuing the versatility of the Frenchman.
Isak remains a dream target for Liverpool and someone who the club had wanted to sign for close to a decade, ever since he broke onto the scene at AIK in Sweden.
Michael Edwards in particular is a fan of the forward and him and his data team did push Jurgen Klopp to sign him over Darwin Nunez back in the summer of 2022.
Things did not materialise for Isak back then and he ended up joining Newcastle United. Now things do not look like they could materialise for Isak again.
Or at least that looked like the most likely outcome on Thursday, when Liverpool accelerated a move for Ekitike. However, since then a new sliver of hope has emerged in a crazy twist.
It seems like another club has entered the race for Isak. According to Di Marzio, Al Hilal are considering a 'huge' offer for the Swedish talent.
This would be ballsy of Al Hila after seeing Liverpool's failed attempts but the news becomes even more intriguing when you look into the club's ownership.
Al Hilal are owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in Saudi Arabia. Newcastle are also owned by PIF, so if Isak really wasn't for sale surely Al Hilal would know and they would not even consider the possibility.
But the crazy twist might just be that Isak is actually for sale for the right price and this is why Liverpool have not walked away from the conversations with Newcastle.
This summer Hughes has shown he is ready to play the long waiting game for the club's desired target. Isak is clearly a dream option for the Reds.
Newcastle have definitely not shut down any further talks of selling Isak. If they are entertaining Al Hilal, then Liverpool could also enter the race again.
The saga therefore continues. And at this stage it's impossible to predict just how it will end. But there is cause for a glimmer of optimism from Liverpool's perspective.
The Isak transfer is definitely not dead in the water just yet.
