Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. will likely play the remaining European years with the capital club. The 30-year-old is under contract until 2025; however, some reports suggest the deal will expire in 2027.

Nonetheless, once Neymar’s tenure in Europe ends, the forward could return to Brazil to finish his playing career.

In an interview with Charla Podcast (h/t ESPN Brazil), the vice president of football at Flamengo, Marcos Braz, was sincere about the possibility that Neymar could play for the Rio de Janeiro-based side.

The possibility would only be viable if there was a “movement” on the athlete’s side to push for a move to Flamengo when the time comes.

“I think that Neymar’s specific case today is completely out of the question when you analyze normal market situations,” Braz said.

“Now, a World Cup passes, Neymar wins a Cup and says: ‘I’m going to live in Brazil for six months, in Mangaratiba. [city in the State of Rio where the athlete has a house], I want to play for Flamengo…’. If he makes this move, it’s possible. If he doesn’t make that move, I say it’s impossible.”

Braz also recalled the high costs involved in signing football stars such as Neymar to convince them to head back to South America but stressed that, in the near future, there is a possibility that Fla will have “muscle” to count on world-class names.

“The player has to give up a lot (to play in Brazil),” Braz said. “Not that I want to belittle the great signings back then, but today there are more barriers in relation to the market, an alternative media that didn’t have before. I don’t know, for example, how much each Cristiano Ronaldo Messi post costs. I mean, you didn’t have this market back there. I think it’s difficult.”

“Now, Flamengo is structuring itself, increasingly creating musculature at all levels and areas. Maybe a little further on, if I asked that question, I would be answering differently.”
