On Friday, Inter confirmed the arrival of 24-year-old Canadian international Buchanan.

The Canadian comes in as a new option on the right flank. With Juan Cuadrado out for much of the rest of the season, the Nerazzurri decided to act quickly to reinforce in the position.

Inter have shown an interest in Buchanan for a while.

But with Cuadrado out, the Nerazzurri decided that it was time to act in their move for the 24-year-old.

Now, Buchanan will look to make his mark in Serie A.

It’s a big step up for the Canadian. But Inter have shown their faith in the player, including by making a sizable investment to get their man.

Club Brugge CEO On Negotiations For Tajon Buchanan Transfer To Inter

Club Brugge executive Mannaert explained that “Inter’s interest has become very active in the last month.”

“When there is direct contact from club to club, the question becomes serious.”

“Teams like Inter and other top teams know how we work,” Mannaert said.

“At a certain point, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio organized contacts between us. He expressed his willingness to negotiate, and his ambition to get the deal done.”

And as far as the player’s end, Mannaert admitted that “Tajon was, obviously, a little disappointed that the summer window didn’t bring a change.”

“But over the last six months he has behaved very professionally.”

“We’re very clear with profiles like Tajon,” the Brugge CEO said. “The goal was to move him to a bigger league.”

“And saying that takes away a lot of stress, because this approach helps avoid conflicts between us and the players.”

Mannaert observed that “We want them to leave on a positive note. Because it’s part of our business model.”
