América qualified for the 2021 Concacaf Champions League because they were the finalists during the 20219 Apertura tournament.

Concacaf today announced that the tournament will begin on the 6th of April, with the clubs from Pot 1 facing the clubs from Pot 2 in the round-of-16.

These are the classified teams:

  1. Pot 1: Cruz Azul, Monterrey, América, Portland Timbers, Philadelphia Union, Columbus Crew, Atlanta United, and the 2020 Canadian Championship winner (Toronto FC or Forge FC)
  2. Pot 2: León, Saprissa (CRC), Alajuelense (CRC), Marathón (HON), Olimpia (HON), Atlético Pantoja (DR), Real Estelí (NIC), Arcahaie (Haiti)

This will be the dates for the matches:

  • Round of 16: April 6-8 (First leg) – April 13-15 (Return)
  • Quarterfinals: April 27-29 – May 4-6.
  • Semifinals: August 10-12 – August 24-26.
  • Final: October 26-28.

As we can see, the tournament will last seven months and the final will be played as a single match at the stadium of the team that put up the best record in the previous rounds.
