In one of the best matches of the Liga MX season, Club América came from behind late to earn a 2-2 draw away at Necaxa.
The situation had made very difficult for América as midfielder Guido Rodríguez was sent off late in the first half while the match was still scoreless.
In the 38th minute, Rodríguez appeared to go into Necaxa’s Claudio Baeza with his studs high while chasing a loose ball.
The official was looking directly at the incident and, without hesitation, showed Rodríguez a straight red, much to the dismay of the América squad.
Mexican journalist Jonatan Peña has reported that América will appeal his suspension and hope to have the Argentine for Saturday’s match against Puebla.
Since the 2017 Apertura season, when the 25-year-old joined from Xolos, Rodríguez has picked up six red cards in all competitions.
