As reported by Mexican outlet Record, Club América president Santiago Baños has dismissed the chances of striker Raúl Jiménez returning to the Liga MX club any time soon.

Speaking to broadcaster TUDN, Baños described any potential move for the Mexican international forward in the coming days as “illogical”. The 31-year-old has suffered with injuries in recent seasons but has recently found his way back into Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers’ starting team. Wolves currently only sit outside the bottom three on goal difference.

Given his return to the Wolves team of late, Baños said it would be “unreasonable” to ask Jiménez to re-sign for his former club where he scored 36 league goals in 96 games over three years having emerged from the youth system in 2011.

However, the Mexican club’s president suggested that the door remains open and that a decision could be made at the end of the English season by the player, even if he has 18 months to run on his contract, adding that he sees the player as being likely to return to the Azteca at some point before the end of his career.

Jiménez has contributed 57 goals and 23 assists in 157 games for the Molineux club so far.
