After 15 years, the Super Clasico is coming back to Chicago!
PRIMETIME Sports announced that Club América and Chivas, the two biggest clubs in Mexico, will face off in a mid-season friendly on 8 September at Soldier Field – home of the National Football League’s Chicago Bears and the site of Sunday’s Gold Cup final, where Mexico defeated the United States 1-0.
The game will serve as a tune-up for their regular-season duel, which will take place on 28 September.
Last year, the two sides met in a September friendly in Los Angeles and battled to a 1-1 draw in front of well over 60,000 fans.
Chivas will have a lot to prove after being defeated 2-0 by their rivals twice over a span of four days during the 2019 Clausura season.
The last time the Super Clasico was held in Chicago, back in 2004, Chivas took home bragging rights thanks to a goal from Alberto Medina.
