A friend of Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in hiring the Italian.
The 59-year-old has spent the last three season with Napoli and last term came within two points of winning the Partenopei’s first Scudetto since 1990.
He left the club last month and was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at Stadio San Paolo and it looks increasingly likely that the veteran will rock up at Chelsea in the coming weeks.
However, his good friend Marco Brachi has told how PSG were keen on brining him to the French capital, but that Sarri rejected their advances.
“The last time I was in Naples he told me that PSG were looking at him,” Brachi told Corriere della Sera.
“But that’s a club that isn’t for him. He told me ‘How can I coach a team that has a midfield of Rabiot, Verratti and Thiago Motta?
“They are players that don’t run. We’re talking about big players, but they don’t attack the spaces and run without the ball.”
