So close.
After finding themselves under the cosh for much of the first half against Spain, Germany thought they’d managed a smash-and-grab lead five minutes before half-time.

That came when Antonio Rüdiger was worryingly left unmarked inside the penalty area to head home a free-kick from the right.
But following a quick check, it was determined that the Real Madrid man was indeed offside.
A close call nonetheless for La Roja.
