England were 1-0 winners over Switzerland in a friendly at Bramall Lane courtesy of an eighth-minute goal by Grace Clinton.

When Millie Turner got her head to a free kick, the ball hit the post and Clinton reacted quickest to smash the rebound home,

Sydney Schertenleib shot straight at Hannah Hampton, Nadine Riesen made the England keeper work a little harder, while Maya Le Tissier and Laura Blindkilde Brown had efforts which were saved Elvira Herzog.

Meriame Terchoun tried to chip Hampton but the keeper tipped it over, Terchoum then involved at the other end with a dramatic tackle on Beth Mead.

Swiss appeals for an 89th-minute penalty were turned down after a VAR check, after which Georgia Stanway hit the post and also the side-netting with another effort in added time.
