City were at our prolific best in Thursday's win over Brighton, scoring four goals from a total xG of just 1.36.

That means that Opta's statistical modelling would suggest that the average side would score either one or two goals from our 14 shots in that game.

Instead, City hit four thanks to Kevin De Bruyne's stooping header, a Phil Foden brace and Julian Alvarez's instinctive finish.

It means we have now scored at least four in our last four Premier League outings, only the fourth time that has been done in the league's history.

We have done it once previously, back in May 2022.

De Bruyne's first ever headed goal in the Premier League was his 68th in the competition overall.

It had an xG of just 0.037 meaning a header in those circumstances would be scored less than four times in every 100 attempts.

Foden's free-kick - his 50th Premier League goal - shortly after ranked as 0.074 before his sweet finish came in at 0.151.

That means seven free-kicks in every 100 from there would go in, while 15 of every 100 shots for the third would find the net.

Alvarez's finish was the most likely shot to result in a goal, amassing an xG of 0.206.

All of that points to City being incredibly efficient in front of goal.

Alvarez hits 30

Julian Alvarez now has 30 goal contributions in 2023/24 across all competitions.

He is the third City man to reach that total this term, as Erling Haaland has 31 goals and six assists and Phil Foden has 24 goals and 10 assists.

With six matches still to play before the summer break, the Argentinian has equalled last season's tally of 17 goals.

Nine of those have come in the Premier League, five in the Champions League, two in the FIFA Club World Cup and one in the FA Cup.

Having spent much of the campaign in a deeper role too, he also has 13 assists and is actually the Club's leader in the Premier League in this metric with nine.

Walker's assists

Kyle Walker has 36 assists in 390 Premier League appearances across a career spanning 15 years in the top tier.

However, Thursday night was the first time that he has provided two assists in the same game.

The right-back first crossed for De Bruyne to head in before sneaking down the wing to set up Alvarez in the second half.

Premier League stats so far this season

In the race for the Golden Boot, Erling Haaland is level with Cole Palmer on 20.

Ollie Watkins (19) and Dominic Solanke (18) are very close behind.

Alvarez's nine assists means he is joint fourth in terms of laying on a team-mate.

Rodrigo has broken the 3,000 pass mark for the Premier League campaign and is now on 3,075 - 116 ahead of nearest challenger Lewis Dunk.

Ederson has nine clean sheets and is third in that metric. Arsenal's David Raya looks likely to claim the Golden Glove this year, with 14 clean sheets to his name.
