Emre Can’s stunning effort against Bayer Leverkusen has been chosen as the Bundesliga’s goal of the month for February.
The midfielder was making his league debut for Borussia Dortmund when he marked his return to German football with a strike from 30 yards that curled beautifully into the top corner at the BayArena.
Bundesliga fans were clearly impressed as it received 61% of votes, way ahead of Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcântara on 12%.
It gave Dortmund a 2-1 lead at the time.
Sadly for Can and company, the hosts were able to fight back to win a thrilling encounter 4-3.
Still, it was a moment to savour for Can after the difficulties he experienced at Juventus. The 28-year-old moved from Turin to BVB in January.
The deal was initially a loan but Dortmund made the move a permanent one in the middle of last month by paying Juve €25m.
If he manages to produce crackers like this more regularly that fee will prove a snip!
