Hull City are interested in signing Fulham striker Jay Stansfield and would be after him he became available for loan.
Hull City are interested in signing Fulham striker Jay Stansfield, and they will pursue a move if he becomes available for loan.
That is according to Hull Live reporter Baz Cooper, who states that the Tigers are interested in signing Stansfield and have been for some time.
He goes on to add that several clubs are looking to sign the striker and predicts that Tim Walter's side will be involved - especially if he becomes available for loan later in the transfer window.
It has been an uncertain few weeks for Hull, with several key players departing but not too much yet in the way of incoming transfer activity.
Tim Walter is preparing for his first season in charge of Hull, and he will be keen for more individuals to arrive, given the calibre of players that have left the club in recent weeks in the form of Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves.
It appears that one of Hull’s targets this summer is indeed Stansfield, but it could be a move that occurs later on in the window rather than imminently.
It was reported by Hull Live last month that Hull were indeed interested in signing Stansfield from Fulham.
The report stated at the time that the Tigers had taken an interest in the player after he impressed while with Birmingham City last season.
Now, according to local journalist Cooper, Hull are keen to firm up their liking for the versatile attacker, but it would mean Fulham have to make the youngster available for a loan deal.
Speaking on the latest edition of the 1904 Club podcast, Cooper said: “Jay Stansfield is a player they really like. They’ve looked at him for a period of time now, not just this summer. I think he’s been on their list for quite a long time.
“That is a deal that a lot of clubs (want) and I think City will be involved in that. If Stansfield comes up later in the window for loan, they’ll be after him.”
It was reported by Football Insider last week that Birmingham City had opened talks to sign Stansfield from Fulham.
The report stated that the League One side was willing to offer a package worth up to £6 million to sign the striker.
It was then later revealed that Cardiff City are also interested in signing the forward, with the South Wales outfit showing tentative interest in the Fulham man.
The Bluebirds are said to be looking to sign two new strikers this summer, with Stansfield one of those on their radar.
Stansfield is clearly a wanted player this summer, but it is just a question of whether Fulham want to sell the striker on a permanent basis or loan him out once again.
It appears that for Hull that they are more interested in signing the player on loan, which at this stage is unclear if it puts them at an advantage or disadvantage.
Either way, if Hull were able to pull off the signing of the forward, then it would be a very impressive addition, as he showed last season that he is able to produce at this level.
Furthermore, with the Tigers losing Liam Delap, they need to find a replacement, and Stansfield could be the perfect one, given his eye for goal in recent seasons.
