Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Watford following Friday night’s 3-0 defeat at home to Norwich City.

Ranieri replaced Xisco Muñoz at the start of October last year but has won just two games in that time.

Their defeat to Norwich saw the Hornets side drop into the relegation zone for the first time this term.

And the Pozzo family have yielded their customary axe, announcing via the club’s official website that Ranieri has been dismissed.

According to the statement: “The Board feels that, with nearly half of the Premier League campaign remaining, a change in the Head Coach position now will give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status.”

Additionally, a report from The Athletic claims the club has already started the search for a replacement.
