Claudio Ranieri on turning down Italy job: “I have decided to remain at Roma’s disposal.”

Claudio Ranieri’s decision to turn down the opportunity to coach the Italian national team was welcomed with enthusiasm by Roma fans.

The retired technician will thus stay on as Roma’s senior club advisor.

In a brief statement to ANSA, Ranieri explained his decision, which came earlier this morning.

“I thank President Gravina for the opportunity, a great honor, but I reflected and decided to remain at Roma’s disposal in my new role in a total way.”

“The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for any decision I have made regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone.”
