Benfica have taken the time to see off their departing wizard of the wing, Jota after he agreed to a £6.3 million move to Celtic Park. Jota has signed on for four-years at Parkhead, meaning we will witness his raw flair and silky smooth technique for at least another four seasons.

The Portuguese player had dazzled us all during his year-long loan spell in Glasgow and we were all eager to see him stay put. The deal was supposedly ready to go but after days and weeks of endless and agonising waiting, we finally caught our man. Today he was confirmed to be Ange Postecoglou’s fourth signing of the summer after, Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alexandro Bernabei.

Next season promises to be even better than the last and it looks like the Hoops heirarchy may have learned a thing or two from the previous regime. This summer they have wasted no time in trying to get the players the manager wants in earlier. For years now we have suffered humiliating exits from the Champions League because of our slow and sluggish business routine.

Those days appear to be over now and we are all the happier for it.

Jota will be unveiled to the Celtic Fan Media today at 3pm at Celtic Park and the supporters will be able to catch a glimpse of the globe-Jota Phileas Fogg in the flesh, for the first time since he signed on that dotted line. This particular writer will have the pleasure to attend that media conference and even ask the winger a question or two on behalf of The Celtic Star!

In the meantime, have a look at the fantastic farewell post Jota’s boyhood club Benfica of Portugal posted to say thank you and wish him well in his new footballing adventure:
