When the clock ticked past the 90th minute in the 1999 Champions League final, Manchester Unitedâs dreams of winning the treble seemed to be falling apart.
Aiming to become the first English team to add Europeâs biggest club trophy to their league title and FA Cup, they were down 1-0 to Bayern Munich in Barcelona as injury time approached.
With key players missing and exhaustion setting in, it looked like Alex Fergusonâs last chance to secure the one honor that had eluded him would come down to one final corner kick.
No one was better suited to take it than David Beckham, and when his delivery caused chaos in the box, Teddy Sheringham pounced on a loose ball to score and tie the game.
Just moments later, in the 93rd minute, United won another corner. Once again, Beckhamâs cross couldnât be cleared, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer guided the ball into the top of the net, completing an incredible comeback and securing victory.
It was classic Fergie time.
