Some Manchester United fans react as Marcus Rashford comes off the bench to down West Ham United

Substitute Marcus Rashford was once again the hero for Manchester United as he came off the bench to score with the last kick of the game to secure his side all three points against West Ham United.

The result sees the Red Devils move into the fourth spot for now. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, however, do have games in hand and as of yet, our destiny is not in our own hands. But the ability to churn out results when not at our best is a sign that the club is headed in the right direction.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw when the club’s three substitutes- Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Rashford combined to great effect with Cristiano Ronaldo to sweep home the winner. The goal gave birth to euphoric scenes at Old Trafford as the fans went wild.

There appeared to have been a touch of offside in the build-up to the goal but VAR failed to flag it and the strike stood. West Ham United barely had time to restart the game and Rashford’s winner turned out to be Man United’s last touch of the match.

This is now the English international’s second goal in as many games and could be an indication that his form is on the mend. This augurs well for Ralf Rangnick who will be keen to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

The Red Devils could still go into the international break outside the top four. However, morale appears to be on the mend at the Theatre of Dreams and hopefully, we have turned a corner when it comes to seeing off close games.

This certainly comes as a big boost in our attempt to secure a top-four finish. We have now leaped West Ham in the table for the time being as we sit on 38 points from 22 games this season.

Understandably Manchester United fans went off on Twitter following the win. We take a look at how some of them reacted below.
