The Champions League round of 16 is over.
There were some bloody noses for big sides this week and jubilation for the Spanish clubs.
Let’s hand out awards, shall we?
For the first time in nearly two decades we now have success seasons in which neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi are into the Champions League quarter-finals.
It really does feel like the end of an era.
Juventus, once again, were knocked out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage.
No wonder they still want to leave and set up the Super League.
Over €1bn spent on transfers, just two Champions League quarter-finals to show for it.
Manchester United are out of Europe at the first knockout stage and not even Cristiano Ronaldo could help them this time.
Chelsea’s off-pitch troubles have been well-documented over recent weeks.
And yet on it, Thomas Tuchel’s men have been a winning machine.
They were at it again this week as the German coach equalled a European record for most wins inside his first 50 games.
Benfica may have been second best throughout their win over Ajax but they had Darwin Nunez to thank for sending them into the quarter-finals.
The Uruguay international is one of the very best young strikers in Europe and will surely be playing for a super club come the summer.
And so, the final eight teams are in the hat.
