Michael, the winner of our Cityzens Win a Trip competition, won a trip to the FA Cup final this past weekend, travelling all the way from the United States to watch City beat Manchester United.

Not only did he get to see a Manchester derby but, also witnessed the team lift a second trophy this season. Being a Manchester City fan and a member of our NYC supporter group New York Sky Blues since 2008 Michael lived an unforgettable experience seeing his team raise this year’s FA Cup in person at Wembley and the second trophy of the season.

The Manchester Derby is always a highly anticipated clash, but when it took place in the FA Cup final, the stakes were raised to new heights. As a passionate fan of Manchester City like Michael, it was an unforgettable experience that he will remember forever.

He started supporting Manchester City in 2008 when he first moved to New York City. Being that the big apple is so diverse he said, “the only two common languages were music and footy”.

City being a smaller team in the shadow of Manchester United at the time “I wanted to see what it was all about and quickly fell in love,” said Michael.

Being a fan of the game not only brought him lifetime friendships but he also met the love of his life who so happens to be a West Ham supporter. They met in the supporter’s section of an NYCFC match and even got engaged on the field.

Fans adorned in blue filled up the streets and Wembley making the atmosphere electric! “It was an unforgettable experience to say the least,” said Michael.
