Palermo will become the fourth CFG sister club to face Manchester City when the two sides meet in Sicily next week.

We play Filippo Inzaghi’s side in the inaugural edition of the Anglo Palermitan Trophy at the Renzo Barbera Stadium at 20:00 (UK) on Saturday 9 August.

The match, that will act as Pep Guardiola’s final match preparation before the start of the Premier League, will be available to watch live on mancity.com and our official app with a CITY+ subscription.

Ahead of the tie with the Serie B outfit, we look back on previous encounters with other sides in the City Football Group network.

Melbourne City 0-1 City, Saturday 18 July 2015

Samir Nasri scored the only goal of the game in Queensland as Manuel Pellegrini’s side made it two wins from two in Australia ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Yaya Toure had hit the bar earlier in the game, while our sister club had also had chances of their own.

The winner eventually came in the 86th minute when Nasri superbly controlled a cross from the right on his chest and with the ball bouncing slightly behind him, recovered his feet to drill an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Tando Velaphi.

Girona 1-0 City, Tuesday 15 August 2017

With the first Premier League game of the 2017/18 season already behind us, City made the midweek trip to Catalonia to welcome Girona into the network.

However, we fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Montilivi thanks to a 14th minute strike from Portu.

City 2-0 Girona, Saturday 17 December 2022

The winter World Cup in November and December 2022 meant teams had to be creative when planning for the second half of the season.

For City and Girona, that looked like a friendly at the Joie Stadium five days before the competitive action resumed.

Kevin De Bruyne gave supporters a great homecoming gift by netting five minutes into his return from the World Cup, before the classy midfielder set-up Erling Haaland’s strike in the 18th minute.

Yokohama F. Marinos 3-5 City, Sunday 23 July 2023

Our three-match pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea began in Tokyo with a clash against one of the most successful sides in Japan.

Anderson Lopes and Ken Matsubara gave the J1 League champions a two-goal advantage before John Stones and Julian Alvarez levelled ahead of half-time.

Two second-half strikes from Erling Haaland and another from Rodrigo earned Pep Guardiola’s side the result over our CFG sister club.

61,618 spectators were packed into the magnificent National Stadium, with sky blue City shirts dominating the stands other than a noisy pocket of Yokohama F. Marinos loyals.
