Everything you need to know about the September fixtures for City’s Under-18s and Elite Development Squad.

It’s been an intense opening few weeks to the 2024/25 campaign for both teams.

For Ben Wilkinson and his EDS squad, they began the season with a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool which was followed by a dominating performance in our 1-1 draw at Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy group stage.

Jacob Wright scored a fantastic free-kick in the clash but it was the hosts who claimed the extra point as City fell to a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat.

Momentum is clearly building for the EDS, though, and a late 3-2 comeback win over Derby County saw City pick up our first league points of the season in our most recent outing.

For Oliver Reiss and his Under-18s, it’s been a slow start to the season but one that has already seen the fresh-faced team continuously develop after each fixture.

Our season began with a 0-0 draw at Leeds before a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United. But, another positive performance on the road saw City draw 2-2 with Norwich in our Under-18 Premier League Cup group stage opener, courtesy of a Matty Warhurst brace.

And September will prove to be another busy month for both teams with a mix of cup and league competitions either side of an international break.

Below is all the information of September’s fixtures for both teams including kick-off times, dates* and what content will be available on mancity.com and the Official Man City App.

EDS FIXTURES

City v Everton | Sunday 1 September, 15:00 (UK) | Premier League 2

It’s the first home game of the 2024/25 season for Wilkinson and his team. We welcome Everton to the Joie Stadium in our only game before the international break.

It’s the first time City will face Everton since the league was restructured ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 (UK) and a detailed match report, plus reaction from the boss, will available shortly after the final whistle. You can get regular updates on the match via X: @ManCityAcademy.

Tickets for the game are available on mancity.com and the Official Man City App, so come and show your support to our young boys in blue!

Manchester United v City | Saturday 21 September, 15:00 (UK) | Premier League 2

Once the players have returned from international duty, it’s straight back into one of the most sought-after fixtures in the calendar.

We travel to Leigh Sports Village for a 15:00 (UK) kick-off when we take on Manchester United. Last season City fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat but will be looking to overcome our noisy neighbours this time around.

A detailed match report and post-match reaction from Ben Wilkinson will be available shortly after full-time. Like always, regular updates will also be available via x: @ManCityAcademy.

Lincoln v City | Tuesday 24 September, 19:00 (UK) | EFL Trophy

Our latest EFL Trophy group stage game will see us travel to Lincoln for a 19:00 (UK) kick-off on Tuesday 24 September.

Live updates of the game will be available on X: @ManCityAcademy with a detailed match report and analysis of the game from Wilkinson on mancity.com and the Official Man City App shortly after full-time.

City v Aston Villa | Friday 27 September, 19:00 (UK) | Premier League 2

To complete the month, Wilkinson and his team will welcome Aston Villa to the Joie Stadium for another Friday night under the lights.

Last season, we played out an exciting, end-to-end 4-4 draw with Villa and expect another intense clash this season.

As well as live updates on X, a detailed match report and post-match reaction from the boss will be available shortly after the final whistle.

Our Under-19s will also find out which UEFA Youth League fixture they will play in September later today. The fixture will be added to this list at a later date.

UNDER-18S FIXTURES

Everton v City | Sunday 1 September, 11:30 (UK) | Under-18 Premier League North

The month begins with a trip to Merseyside for an 11:30 (UK) kick-off against Everton. In both fixtures against the Toffees last season, City drew 1-1 and 0-0.

Reiss and his team will be looking to go one step further this campaign and pick up a win on the road.

Live updates on the match will be available on X: @ManCityAcademy and a detailed match report as well as the thoughts of the boss, will be available shortly after full-time on mancity.com and the Official Man City App.

City v Nottingham Forest | Saturday 14 September, 11:30 (UK) | Under-18 Premier League North

Our next home game will see us welcome Nottingham Forest to the City Football Academy for an 11:30 (UK) kick-off.

Last season, our home tie played out a thrilling 4-3 loss which saw City reduced to 10 part way through the second half.

Live updates as well as a detailed match report will be available shortly after the game.

Sunderland v City | Saturday 28 September, 11:00 (UK) | Under-18 Premier League North

Our final game in September will see us back on the road and this time to Sunderland.

In 2023/24, City came from a goal down to win 3-1 in a fantastic display by the squad.

Fans can follow the game live via regular updates on X. A detailed match report will be available once the game has concluded.
