PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

Pep Guardiola says Erling Haaland is not completely over his foot injury as City prepare to face Chelsea.

The boss indicated that the Norwegian hasn’t made a complete recovery and cannot confirm whether he will be involved in our Carabao Cup Third Round game against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Joao Cancelo also misses out following his red card in Saturday's clash with Fulham.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Our last Carabao Cup clash with the Blues was in the 2018/19 final at Wembley, where City won a thrilling penalty shootout.

The teams couldn't be separated after 90 minutes and a further 30 minutes of extra time.

But in the ensuing shoot-out, Ederson saved Jorginho's effort and David Luiz hit the post before Raheem Sterling thumped home the winner to make it 4-3 and secure out second trophy of that campaign.

Our last Premier League encounter with Chelsea ended 1-0 to City in January this year, after Kevin De Bruyne scored a superb goal to help City move 13 points clear at the top of the table with our 12th consecutive league victory.

LAST TIME OUT

Erling Haaland's stoppage time penalty for ten-man City secured a memorable 2-1 Premier League victory over Fulham in our last game.

The Blues had taken the lead through Julian Alvarez, but Joao Cancelo was shown a straight red card not long after for a last-man challenge in the box.

The visitors then levelled from the penalty spot and though Haaland looked to have headed home the winner on 76 minutes, VAR ruled the effort out for offside.

But deep into added time, the peerless Kevin De Bruyne won a last-gasp penalty that Haaland squeezed home to send the Etihad into raptures.
