Team news

Pep Guardiola said that John Stones is likely to be out for around a month ahead of the game against Tottenham on 5 February after suffering a hamstring injury.

He had hoped that Phil Foden would be back in the matchday squad to face Spurs, but he felt unwell the night before the game.

The boss will give all the latest team news in his press conference before the Villa clash on Friday.

Previous meeting

City were held to a 1-1 draw when the two sides met at Villa Park in September.

Erling Haaland put us ahead in the 50th minute when he turned in Kevin De Bruyne’s superb cross at the backpost.

But Leon Bailey rescued a point for the home side with a powerful strike with 16 minutes remaining.

Last time out

We suffered a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham when Harry Kane’s first-half strike was the difference between the two teams.

Villa, meanwhile, were beaten at home 4-2 by Leicester despite a goal form Ollie Watkins and an own goal from Harry Soutar.
