United had led 3-0 with 19 minutes of normal time remaining, only for the Sky Blues to make an incredible comeback, levelling to make it 3-3 five minutes into added time.

Coventry looked to have secured a fairy-tale win with almost the last kick of extra time, but their 'winner' was ruled out by a fractional VAR offside decision.

United then went on to win 4-2 on penalties and set up a date against the Blues in May's showpiece event.

It also means that, after their never previously been a Manchester derby on the FA Cup final up to 2023, there have now been successive clashes of the Manchester giants.

Last season, two Ilkay Gundogan goals gave City a 2-1 win on the way to the Treble.

Ticket details will be announced in due course.

City booked a place in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Bernardo Silva’s 84th minute goal was the decisive moment as Pep Guardiola’s men shrugged off Champions League frustration to progress to the showpiece of English football’s oldest cup competition.

Now in its 152nd year, the FA Cup final is due to take place on Saturday 25 May at Wembley, with the start time yet to be confirmed.

We began our run to the final with a 5-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in January, before 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur later that month.

Erling Haaland then scored five in a 6-2 win at Luton Town in February before Bernardo Silva hit the net twice to beat Newcastle United in the quarter-final.

City will be hoping to secure our eighth triumph in the competition, having won it in 1904, 1934, 1956, 1969, 2011, 2019 and 2023.
