City’s 2-1 win over Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday saw Pep Guardiola’s side set yet another Premier League record.
Goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland made it 21 consecutive home victories across all competitions – more than any other English team in the Premier League era has managed.
It also extends our current club record which was set on this run with the August defeat of Newcastle United.
The run is now the joint second longest in English football history, tied with Preston North End’s 1892 team. Sunderland’s 24 successive home victories across 1891 and 1892 remains the outright record.
The form began back in January with our 4-0 FA Cup victory over Chelsea and has comprised of 14 wins in the Premier League, four in the Champions League and three in the FA Cup.
Our relentless pursuit of excellence at home proved to be the backbone of last season’s historic Treble, as we lifted the three biggest trophies available to us.
During that run we have scored an incredible 67 goals and conceded just 10 times.
Perhaps most memorably, we scored 14 goals without reply to beat RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to book our place in Istanbul for that unforgettable Champions League final.
Our league form included decisive wins against title rivals Arsenal and European contenders Newcastle United and Liverpool.
We also beat Arsenal in the FA Cup as well as a comprehensive 6-0 quarter-final defeat of Burnley.
Not content with those successes, we have started the new campaign just as positively, beating Newcastle, Fulham and Nottingham Forest at home before Saturday’s meeting with Brighton.
Erling Haaland has been our top scorer at the Etihad during the run, netting 22 times in front of our fans. Julian Alvarez is next, scoring on 12 occasions.
Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez have both supplied eight assists while Erling Haaland is the next best provider on seven.
Congratulations to Pep, his staff and all of his players on yet another incredible achievement.
