Manchester City are gearing up for another attempt to lure Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to England.

According to the Sun, City are drawing up a 10 year plan to tempt Messi to Manchester.

The 10 year association would start with a multi-year contract to play for Man City under Pep Guardiola. Guardiola’s recent contract extension has made a move for Messi very possible.

The stint with City is to be followed up by a move to the MLS to play for sister club New York City FC. Current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was once a part of a similar deal.

To top it all off, Messi would be offered an ambassadorial role at the club after his playing career is over.

The Barcelona icon could also be allowed to pick any of the City Group’s other teams including Japanese outfit Yokohama F Marinos and Melbourne City in Australia.

Manchester City were very interested in signing Messi in the summer transfer window. The Argentine’s falling out with the Barcelona officials led to a transfer request which gave hope to Man City.

However, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu rejected any idea of the superstar leaving without City triggering his release clause.

A release clause of €700 million is too much, even for Lionel Messi.

Though, Messi is a free agent next summer. Barca are still reluctant to let him leave the club. But, due to their perilous financial situation, Man City may just get lucky with an offer in January.
