City in the Community staff have been participating in educational sessions to enhance their awareness and understanding of Ramadan.

The sessions provided the CITC team with insights into the traditions of Eid and Ramadan, why Muslims fast during the month, activities which Muslims participate in during Ramadan, and the nutritional aspects.

Natalie Ingham, HR & Talent Manager at CITC, attended the session and believes it has helped her to develop her understanding of Ramadan and the wider Muslim culture.

She said: “The discussion and presentation from Nujum Sports was really enjoyable. The content was informative, providing everyone with a real insight into Ramadan and the values behind the holy month.“The presenting style really brought the reflective and celebratory aspects of Ramadan to life, of which some people may have had little knowledge of. I really enjoyed learning more about our Muslim community, and the fantastic work that Nujum are doing.”

Nujum Sports work alongside a variety of Muslim athletes to provide support services such as faith advice, mental health support and educational training, with the aim to help them flourish and fulfil their potential.

By building, empowering and supporting a community of Muslim athletes, Nujum aims to empower our future generations to be positive and inspirational members of society.

Ebadur Rahman, Co-Founder and CEO of Nujum Sports, said: “The sessions we provide are very important, especially for footballers because of lockdown and COVID restrictions. A lot of them will be away from their family, extended family and they won’t be able to break fast with them.

“I know a lot of the players won’t have their family here, so Ramadan is a very difficult time for them. Having that support from Nujum Sports, as well as the club, will be amazing for the staff and players.”
