Carney Chukwuemeka signed for Chelsea not just because they’re a big club playing in the Champions League – but also because he was promised playing time this season and beyond.
He’s had to be patient so far, but he’s come off the bench a couple of times, and tonight he was a real bright spark against Brentford.
He came on in the second half and added energy, speed and attacking link-up play as Chelsea forced back a spirited Brentford team.
The last chance of the game fell to him as he burst into the box and lashed a shot at the near post which David Raya saved. Of course, he should have picked out Raheem Sterling as he rushed in to support, but you can’t blame him for having a go from there.
On the back of that half an hour, we’re sure we will see a lot more of Carney in the weeks and months to come – especially with Conor Gallagher injured.
