According to Foot Mercato, Al-Duhail are considering firing Christophe Galtier after a disastrous period in charge of the reigning champions of Qatar.

Al-Duhail are currently sixth in the league, 21 points behind league leaders Al-Sadd, and eliminated from both the Asian Champions League and the Qatar Cup. It’s been a season to forget for both club and manager, with Galtier unlikely to see out the remaining four games.

It’s a surprising turn of events for a manager who can rely on a squad featuring Philippe Coutinho (31), Lucas Verissimo (28), and Ibrahima Diallo (25). The club have reportedly already lined up their replacement with Djamel Belmadi likely to take on the opportunity after the Algerian manager was released from his role in charge of Algeria’s national team.

Marseille no longer an option for Galtier

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC manager joined the Qatari club in October after interest from Olympique de Marseille broke down. This interest looks as if it will not be repeated in the summer, with Galtier reportedly not on the club’s shortlist as they look to replace their interim appointment Jean-Louis Gasset.
