Christophe Galtier still under pressure at PSG despite victory over OGC Nice | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier is not out of the woods yet despite his side’s 2-0 victory over OGC Nice on Saturday, according to RMC Sport.

Lionel Messi fired Les Parisien to victory with a goal and an assist on either side of half-time to maintain their six-point lead at the Ligue 1 summit.

The victory comes as a relief to the French giants, who had lost their previous two games to Stade Rennais and Olympique Lyon by a combined scoreline of 3-0.

The defeat at Parc des Princes was Nice’s first under Didier Digard’s stewardship, having joined the club in January, ending their 14-game unbeaten run under the Frenchman.

However, PSG’s result over Nice flattered their performance as profligacy in front of goal, coupled with some excellent saves from Gianluigi Donnaruma, thwarted Digard’s side.

PSG were once again guilty of some dodgy defending but managed to secure a clean sheet for the first time since their 3-0 success over Olympique Marseille at the tail end of February.

Despite the victory, Galtier remains under pressure in the PSG dugout, with the club seriously considering a managerial change this summer.

Galtier’s side have crashed out of the Coupe de France and the Champions League, leaving Ligue 1 success their only avenue for silverware this season.

However, while they once held a comfortable eight-point lead at the top of the table, recent results have seen the chasing RC Lens close the gap to six points with eight games left.

PSG have already begun their managerial search with Jose Mourinho, Zinedine Zidane and Julian Nagelsmann on their radar.

The French champions have already approached the former Bayern Munich boss, who is also attracting interest from Premier League duo Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

PSG will face Lens next weekend in a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash that will affect which way the Ligue 1 title race swings this season.

Defeat for the league leaders could also fast-track the hovering axe over Galtier’s long-term future with PSG.
