Renowned German journalist Christian Falk explains why Borussia Dortmund should be considered as the favourites to sign Marcus Rashford.

After failing to make an appearance in the last ten Manchester United fixtures, the Englishman will be desperate to seal a move before the end of the January transfer session, as he risks spending the rest of the campaign on the sidelines if Ruben Amorim remains stubborn in his choice to drop the troubled star.

The 27-year-old was linked with a move to AC Milan, but the deal is now dead in the water, with the Serie A giants using their solitary spot allocated to UK/Albania players on Kyle Walker who has landed in Italy to finalise his transfer.

But while Rashford continues to dream of joining Barcelona, Falk believes this operation remains unlikely.

In his latest column for The Daily Briefing, the transfer market insider explains how the Blaugrana won’t be able to guarantee the striker’s eligibility to play due to their ongoing Financial Fair Play woes. After all, they had to hustle to find a solution to keep Dani Olmo among their ranks.

So unless the Catalan giants manage to offload some of their current players and make some room for the Man Utd star on the wage bill, this operation won’t take off.

On the other hand, Falk believes Dortmund are in a much healthier spot than Barcelona, so they will have the means to seal the deal, especially if they end up selling Karim Adeyemi to Napoli.

As reported earlier in the day, the Serie A giants have gone all-in for the German winger after failing to reach an agreement with Man Utd on Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer. Nevertheless, the dominoes could end up falling in Rasford’s favour, helping him end his Carrington exile.
