Christian Eriksen gave an honest explanation for his strange reaction to Tottenham’s third goal in their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Son was on the receiving end of a gentle berating from his Spurs team-mate for not passing in the build-up to Dele Alli’s goal, waving his arms at the South Korean after the ball went in.
The South Korean had two opportunities to square the ball for both Alli and Erik Lamela, but as Chelsea failed to clear the ball anyway, Alli tucked away his second.
“He made it more difficult than it was!” he joked. “Of course, we scored, so it was relief, but if we didn’t score it would have been a big disappointment for Sonny not to pass it, but luckily Dele finished it off.”
Alli also said he was ‘a little annoyed’ the ball was not squared earlier, but recognises Son’s confidence is down to his superb form.
“I was complaining, I was a little bit annoyed that he didn’t, but Sonny is a player who is in really good form so when he goes through you’d back him to score. He kept it alive, and luckily it fell to me.”
