We can perhaps accuse Chris Wood of holding a grudge.

The 32-year-old striker spent just a year at Newcastle and found his options limited at St.James’ Park before moving to Nottingham Forest latst January.

Well, the New Zealand international has returned to Tyneside today and has more than made his mark.

Wood levelled the scores in first-half stoppage time for Forest after Eddie Howe’s side had dominated the first period.

But he made sure Newcastle fans will never forget him in the second half after adding two more goals to complete his hat-trick inside the opening 15 minutes of the second period.

The second goal especially was a work of art, as he danced past Dan Burn before lofting a deft chip over goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
