Manchester United take on Championship outfit Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.
The Reds go into the game as favourites to reach the final, however, one pundit believes an upset could be on the cards.
Last time out United drew 2-2 away at Bournemouth, while Coventry City lost 3-0 against Birmingham City.
Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton was doing his weekly prediction round-up for BBC Sport when he predicted Coventry would beat United 2-1.
Sutton said: “United should be beating Coventry comfortably but they have lacked consistency all season and I don’t have faith in them to suddenly find it now.
“So, let me dream a little here. I’ve got great memories of the 1987 final when Keith Houchen’s diving header helped Coventry upset Tottenham and lift the FA Cup, and what a day it would be for them if they win.”
There is no getting away from the fact United’s form has been a concern this season. We were knocked out of the earlier rounds of the Champions League and currently sit seventh in the Premier League. Erik ten Hag’s side were also unable to defend their crown as Carabao Cup winners, so the FA Cup is our only change to win silverware this season.
Sutton still believes a Coventry win is ‘written in the stars’.
He added: “Coventry are not in the greatest form in the Championship, with three defeats in their past four games, but I am a romantic at heart and I believe in fairytales too.
“It is written in the stars that Sky Blues boss Mark Robins wins this tie, against his former club.
“My old Norwich team-mate famously scored an FA Cup third-round winner for Manchester United in 1990 that saved Sir Alex Ferguson‘s job, but now I think he will push Erik ten Hag closer to the exit door.”
You can tell that Sutton is hopeful of a Coventry win, which shouldn’t come as a surprise because he’s one of those pundits who never has something positive to say about United.
Hopefully, Ten Hag and his players can spoil the weekend for Coventry as well as Sutton.
