There is the potential for a cup upset this weekend as League One Derby County prepare to host Premier League outfit West Ham United.

Although we do have to wait until Monday night to watch the matchup, it should be an exciting one nevertheless.

Derby had things all their own way in the third round of the competition at Pride Park earlier this month.

Barnsley were their opponents in that stage, with the Rams running out 3-0 winners on the day thanks to goals from James Collins, Tom Barkhuizen and Jason Knight.

Of course, with Derby in League One these days, they enter the competition in the first round proper, and overcame both Torquay United and Newport County respectively in the first and second round.

Entering at the third round stage along with the other Premier League and Championship sides, West Ham have only had to defeat one side in the competition so far.

Luke Thomas?

Barnsley Exeter Ipswich Portsmouth

That was fellow Premier League club Brentford, with the Hammers edging the Bees 1-0 thanks to a strike by Said Benrahma.

Despite that result for West Ham last time out, BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton doesn’t think the Hammers will have it their way in the Derby clash on Monday night.

Indeed, in his latest FA Cup score predictions for BBC Sport, Sutton is predicting a huge upset, and Derby County to run out 1-0 winners on the night.

The Verdict

This is a very bold prediction by Chris Sutton here.

You just never know in the FA Cup, though, and with the match set to take place under the lights, away at Pride Park, there are certainly ingredients of a cup upset there.

That being said, you have to make West Ham favourites for this clash.

They are a Premier League side and have the far superior squad, even if they rotate their starting XI.

With Premier League survival likely to be their priority this season, though, there is every chance they could rotate their side entirely, which Derby could well take advantage of.
