Jose Mourinho won himself yet another European title as his Roma side edged past Feyenoord in the first ever UEFA Conference League final.

A single Nicolo Zaniolo goal in the 32nd minute proved to be enough for Mourinho’s stoic side to book their spot in European club football history.

of the victory as he and his side celebrated the win with all the gusto they deserved.

It was a typically Mourinho victory with Roma sitting deep and relentlessly soaking up the Feyenoord pressure as the minutes ticked by.

However, while Mourinho may have masterminded the tactics, it was Chris Smalling who executed the vision on the pitch.

The former-Manchester United star was imperious at the heart of the Roma rearguard as he snuffed out attack after attack.

His reading of the game was superb as he often look a step ahead of the opposition attackers.

Now, his highlights have emerged and are doing the rounds of Twitter with the Englishman sending a timely reminder of what he can do.

Smalling’s career looked to have stalled as he fell out of favour at Manchester United but it certainly does look as though he is beginning to thrive under the tutelage of Mourinho.

With Tammy Abraham leading the line, Mourinho is leaning into his knowledge of the English game to restore Roma’s standing as a European giant.

However, while the Conference League is undoubtedly an historic moment, a sixth-place finish in Serie A is certainly something that needs improving on.

Roma finished 23 points off the eventual winners, AC Milan, after losing a rather unimpressive 11 games over the course of the season.
